So yesterday I got the call saying that Grams is back in the hospital.......then I got the call saying that I needed to get there as fast as I could because she wasn't doing good. By the time I got to the hospital she was stable and doing much better. She is at a new hospital and we are hoping for better care. Just in a matter of a few hours I saw more doctors than I did during her month stay at NCH. We are also switching doctors......her primary doctor hasn't even seen her one time since she has been out of the hospital. She has been out for about a month and never has really recovered. She has been extremely weak and very dependent on people which makes for a very ornery Grams.
We are hoping that she is going to make a full recovery. They have found a lot of internal bleeding so they are trying to get that under of control. I started to think that she was beginning to give up but yesterday gave her a new glimmer of hope. She thought she was a gonner and she decided that she has a lot of unfinished business before she goes.
Well, speaking of getting old.....our fridge has almost seen the end. She sprung a leak about 2 years ago (yes....two years ago) and we have kept a bucket in there ever since to catch the water. Approximately once every other week we have to take the drawers out and mop up all the water that wasn't caught by the bucket. We have shopped many refrigerators in the last couple of months: Bottom loaders, top loaders, side by sides, counter depth, mini fridges, fridges with locks, and that is just to name a few. Our dilemma (and we always have a dilemma) was that we needed a fridge that was 28 inches deep....they don't make them like that anymore (goes to tell you how old our appliances are). A couple of inches is no big deal in a normal kitchen but when your kitchen is only 30 inches wide even centimeters counts!
A couple of months ago Steve had a water thermos in there and didn't put the top on.....the water from the fridge leaked into the thermos and he didn't realize it until he got really sick after he guzzled it down. The topper was a couple of weeks ago......We ordered Chinese for dinner and Steve loves sesame chicken. There was tons of rice so he made the BIG decision to eat all of the rice because it was half way decent and save the sesame chicken for dinner the next day. After dreaming about sesame chicken all day he came home to find it under water. That was the straw that broke the camels back. If this fridge was anything like a cat it was on its ninth life......the stuff in the freezer stopped freezing and it started making some scary noises. It would be just our luck to not listen to the two years of warning signs and lose all of the food. So tonight we made the command decision and bought a 30 inch stainless steel fridge. Woo hoo.... no more poisoned food!!!
