And you call yourself a cat……..

A few days ago, Steve was putting away the dishes and he placed his hand right on top of a lizard that happened to be chilling on top of a lid. Lizards are not scary by any means but when you see one lounging on a pan after you have already picked it up, you panic. Anyway Steve picks up the pan and in midair the lizard starts crawling toward him.

As a bystander, I was sure that Steve was going to Frisbee the pan, along with the lizard. Well, the pan managed to stay in Steve’s hand but the lizard went sailing through the air, doing numerous cartwheels, before landing on the stove.

Lizards are fast little reptiles and can squeeze into small crevices which makes it nearly impossible to catch one once they get inside. The way we looked at it we had two options 1. Attempt to catch it ourselves- which basically means I have to catch it (Steve is afraid of them). 2. Shotzie loves lizards and cats are supposed to be good hunters. We went with option 2 and called Shotzie to action to corner the lizard. She saw her target, crept down, pounced and MISSED.

I can’t believe she can call herself a cat. She has one job…….to make sure rodents stay out of the house and she obviously failed at that. We can’t even justify and say that she has a big territory to cover (really small condo. So we now have a cat and a lizard residing with us!
