Jamaica

Andrews friend from highschool  got married in Jamaica.  This was my first destination wedding.  It was great and I even tried to convice my sister to do one.  They had around 90 people that showed up.  Most people made a vacation of it but we decided to just go for the weekend.  We got in Thursday afternoon and arrived at the Half Moon Resort.  It was beautiful.  They had two packagags available.  One was staying in suite which had an upstairs, downstairs and a small kitchen.  The second option was a villa.  The villas included a maid, chef, private pool and golf cart.  We didn't know that many people that were going so we went for the suite option.  Our suite was beautiful!

Friday night there was a welcome dinner for everyone.  We had drinks served out of coconuts, fire throwing performer and a contortionist.  








Saturday the wedding was supposed to start around 5:30 but of course the clouds rolled in around 3:30 and ended up staying.  Right around the time of the wedding it started sprinkling.  Emily (the bride) really wanted to get married on the beach.  Everyone was given an umbrella and we watched them say their vows. It was the first time I have ever been to a night wedding.  It was awesome to hear them say their vows with the waves crashing behind them.  My favorite part of the wedding was when they were signing their marriage certificate.  There was a table with  four chairs, the couple, sister and brother sat down while a Jamaican singer was singing "One Love".  It was super neat!

You could get a couples massage in this cabana right outside of our suite.  We thought about it but at the last second decided it wasn't going to work with our schedule.  













It is hard going to a tropical place when we live in a tropical place.  Jamaica definitely isn't one of my favorite places to go  We definitley are super spoiled by living in our own paradise.  The only thing is I feel that the palm trees, cyystal blue water, white sand has sort of lost its luster.  It was nice to see all of the people that were from out of town in complete awe of Jamaica.  We were like we see this every Saturday.  It was a nice reminder to NOT take where we live for granted.
